|Project Title||Static analysis|

|Project Description||Smartphones and mobile devices offer incredible functionalities nowadays, but they often need to access sensitive data. The EU GDPR expects that privacy is embedded into the design of the system, and its implementation accesses the private data it needs to fulfil its tasks, and nothing more. However, this is not often the case in a generic mobile ecosystem. While users usually protect their data through Privacy Enhancing Technology that (pseudo)anonimizes their data at runtime, there exist many static privacy analyses that could potentially tell developers, distributors, and users about how an app manages confidential data. Unfortunately, their application to industrial software has been quite limited.|
In this scenario, we are looking to partecipate to the DS-08 call on GDPR topics as a partner, since we think this might be a context where static analysis could play a relevant role.
