Core competencies

RF Microtech is a spin-off of University of Perugia and operates as a high-tech service company in the
field of radio sensing techniques.
We have a deep knowledge on proximity and radar sensors, radio imaging techniques for luggage and
people scanning also through-wall or under foliage.
We have 20 years of experience on microwave technology and we are actively participating on
projects devoted to security such as ARASCOM and MELISSA both aimed at the realization of radio
scanning systems/weapons detection using two different approaches. ARASCOM is based on a large
scanning antenna working at 77 GHz that actively probes the scene under observation and re-
constructs the image at radio-frequency. MELISSA is a SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) system that fully
reconstruct the 3D radio image of a person under observation.
Radio-frequency can be used also to detect the heart-beat of hidden human being or analyse
threatening substances throughout spectrum analysis.
Other competencies are: RF MEMS design and fabrication, active and passive RF components, sensors
for industrial applications and quality control, radio systems for space and terrestrial apparatus.
