Founded in 2006, Kallipolis is a non-profit organisation that aims at improving livability in urban
contexts through the approach of social urbanism.
Kallipolis is intrinsically multidisciplinary, operating through professionals with different backgrounds from the socio-economic and the technical sectors and frequently partners with universities and local authorities.
Kallipolis focuses on urban quality and safety in the processes of transformation and renovation of the urban fabric.
In this context, we have developed an approach that aims at identifying risk factors and strenghts
through crucial information and looks forward to systematize the collection, production and analysis
of data about urban phenomena. This approach requires the participation of citizens and that of all
the relevant actors, in order to provide shared strategies.
The product of this process provides decision-makers and planners with guidelines to design quality
and safety policies in which citizens are a crucial factor to reaffirm the liveability and sociality of
public spaces, in order to ensure a long term, social and economic sustainability of the actions that
will be undertaken.
