Core competencies

The Oulu University Secure Programming Group (OUSPG) investigates and creates new ways of testing
for software and system vulnerabilities. Our goal has been to support proactively preventing, finding
and fixing vulnerabilities which cause safety and security issues. Our research concentrates on
implementation-level issues and testing-methods, as well as developing methods for understanding
complex systems.

We have been an independent and academic research group in the Department of Computer Science
and Engineering since summer 1996. Our mission has been to proactively make the technology - our
society depends on - more safe and secure. We have carried out several national and international
research projects and have spun off two companies: Codenomicon Oy and Clarified Networks Oy.
