Core competencies

CITIC is focused on 5 areas:

Information and Communication Technologies: CITIC is focused in research and innovation projects with a great
position in the transference of research results, knowledge and technologies into services and products. One of our
main interests lies in the Information Security and Trustworthy area where we have created and we actively support
the Andalusian Cybersecurity Cluster. Our commitment with the cybersecurity activities is strong and we are involved
in several national projects where information security is an important and transversal discipline.

Big Data: In this area we are focused on heterogeneous data integration, data warehouse and datamining, open and
managing large volumes of data, results simulation and presentation/visualization. With special emphasis in business
intelligence and machine learning argorithms.

Software Engineering: We apply scientific knowledge to software design and development, working with cloud
computing, security, competitive intelligence, citizenship and e-administration, grid computing, software quality,
knowledge management and sectorial software.

e-Health: This covers the auxiliary tools based on ICT which are used in activities such as prevention, diagnose,
treatment, check, and also in health and lifestyle management. We deal with tele-assistance, tele-medicine, ambient
assistance living, personal autonomy improvement, monitoring, simulation and health information systems.

Environment Intelligence: This area covers all those techniques that make it possible to enjoy the advantages offered
by ICT without the environment becoming a limiting factor. It adapts the different environments so we can access to
services related to our own work, health, education, leisure, security, etc. Within this area categories such as energy
efficiency, smart environments, automatic knowledge acquisition, adaptive multimodal interfaces, language
technology or artificial vision are included.

Social Computing: It covers social software such as blogs, email, instant messaging, social networks, wikis, social
bookmarks, etc. It also covers collaborative calculations such as collaborative filtering, online auctions, prediction
markets, reputational systems, tabs and verification games. Finally, it also covers virtual social networks.
