Core competencies

The Centre for International Studies (Ce.S.I. - Centro Studi Internazionali) was founded in Rome (Italy) by Prof
Andrea Margelletti, in 2004. Since then, Prof Margelletti has been the Chairman of the Institute.

The research activity of the Institute is based on the Open Source Intelligence methodology (OSINT) and is
focused on topics such as security, defence, terrorism, counter-terrorism and geopolitics.

The Institute works not only with private clients, but also with institutional partners, such as the Italian
Parliament, the Italian Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces and
Law Enforcement Agencies.

The Institute can develop products such as analyses, reports, studies, briefings and early warnings, besides
organizing workshops, roundtables and conferences with high profile sector-specific stakeholders, such as
lawmakers, government officials, military officers and industry players, also in partnership with our media-
partner ANSA, the main Italian news agency.

In the 2017 edition of the University of Pennsylvania’s “Global go-to Think-tanks Index report (base year 2016)
our Institute ranked:
19th - Top Think Tanks with Annual Operating Budgets of Less than $ 5 Million USD;
51th - Top Think Tanks in Western Europe” (besides being the third think tank in Italy);
108th - Top Foreign Policy and International Affairs (one of the only three Italian think tanks considered);
168th - “Top Think Tanks Worldwide - US and non-US”.
