Core competencies
The Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) is one of the biggest and oldest technical universities in
Europe. CTU currently has eight faculties and more than 18,500 students. According to QS World University
Rankings, which evaluated more than 4700 universities worldwide, Faculty of Electrical and Electronic
Engineering ranks 201st to 250th position.
The Department of Measurement established the Laboratory for the Measurement of Speech, Audio and Video
Transmission Quality in Telecommunication Networks in 1999. This laboratory works primarily on subjective
testing. It provides independent testing services in accordance with relevant ITU-T, ITU-R, ETSI and ANSI
recommendations. It performs unique multilingual, multi-national subjective tests and also performs tests
under special conditions, such as mental or physical stress, or solving parallel tasks.
The Department of Measurement also involves in Measurement systems, Sensors and Magnetic Measurements,
Laboratory of Precise Measurement of Electrical Quantities, Videometry, Aeronautical Systems and
Instrumentation, Automotive Electronics and Distributed Systems, Diagnostics, Non-destructive Testing and
Signal Processing, and Human Factors and Biomedical Measurements.
