The FarSiCura Research Center was founded in 2015 as a result of the experience gained in the field of
security studies within the Department of Sociology and Social Research of the University of Milano-Bicocca,
through research about urban security, road safety and other potential risks for the population.
Nowadays, the Centers activities concern several issues related to security and insecurity, which include
lifestyle changes and emerging social needs; urban transformations and conflicts between new and old
populations; marginality and social vulnerability; growth of populations demand for security and
responses provided by institutions; transformations of actors involved in urban security policies and practices.
