Core competencies
The Computer Security Lab (COSEC) is a research group in the Department of Computer Science at
Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). It currently employs 19 researchers and engineers -mostly
computer scientists, mathematicians and telecommunication engineers– working on different aspects of cybersecurity and applied cryptography.
The lab has more than 20 years of experience in R+D+I activities and its members have been involved in numerous national and international –including both EU and non-EU– projects. Relevant experience includes: modelling and detection of advanced cyberattacks; malware analysis; data leakage prevention technologies; security in sensor networks, RFID systems and implantable medical devices; computer forensics; anonymity systems; security in vehicular systems; software security; and simulation of cybersecurity exercises.
The lab provides cybersecurity education and training in various B.Sc. and M.Sc. courses and also on-demand to different bodies of the Spanish public administration as well as to military and security forces.
