Core competencies

Within the Computer Vision Centre we are working on the frontier of the near future. The applications and
technology that we develop in our centre are ten years in advance of what citizens have within their hands today.
We work on the part of Artificial Intelligence that gives the capacity of vision to robots and computers and with
this, enable them to do things, which have always seemed, unimaginable.
We are working on the main problems of humanity, on the great challenges proposed by the European Union: Health
(cancer prevention, obesity, wellbeing for the elderly, assistance to the disabled), Industry (sustainable farming,
recycling, industry 4.0, optimization of resources and quality control), Mobility (Advanced Driver Assistance
Systems, traffic accident prevention, smart cities) and Culture (cultural heritage exploitation, democratisation of
our past, open access to libraries and archives).
Our research and technology is then implemented in Public Administrations, big enterprises and SMEs that are
creating the smart cities of the future, orienting their efforts to create sustainable ecosystems in which citizens
play an important role. At CVC, Responsible Research and Innovation is one of our main pillars, being Artificial
Intelligence such a complex science to comprehend for the general public, but essential nowadays in any part of our
daily life.
